It is Friday again and it seems it was just Friday, a few days ago! Here we are in the “short rows” of winter, already. I notice that seasons, now seem but a few weeks, and the years zip pass, too.
As a child the time between Christmases, seemed like an eternity – the same can be said for birthdays. Summers were really endless, in my youth, though they were never long enough to suit me. I remember my elders would talk about something that happened twenty years ago, as if it were just last year. I thought they were “mad” for they always seemed startled, when they realised, it was decades ago, that the barn was that old, or since they had seen a certain cousin. Now, I understand fully well, their predicament. . . and as it turns out, I am every bit as mad now, as they ever dared to be.

Ma’am,
About the rain, can you share some with me? We desperately need some. Coming home to a loving dog is the best thing in the world. Knowing you are loved is a close first. Never mind about the apple dumplings. The company is what mattered and the moment of togetherness.
Seemed like a scene from the book ” Marigold” to me( LM Montgomery).

I loved the scenes you ‘painted’. The roast pork dinner made me recall our Sunday dinners of leg-o-lamb with the skin cooked so crisp. Of course, years later I learned that I shouldn’t eat the skin. Tsk! Tsk! You are absolutely spot on about how much beauty the world has to offer us and we don’t have enough time to see it all. Heck, I’ve never left the US (going to Canada doesn’t count, it’s too close). Have a wonderful day.

Dear, You say everything so beautifully.
Please pray for Mississippi. All of our creeks and rivers are running too high and the winds have made a mess in so many places.Theer has been life lost abd a lot of property damaged. Probably other states too but I know for sure here. I am on high ground but did have a tree across the drive this morning. Goodness…our normally well behaved Nature has had a bangup day.

We home cooks are frequently humbled, aren’t we? No matter how long we have been cooking, little surprises always pop up.

You bet! And still we cook. Sometimes, the failures are actually quite tasty, as with the flat scones I made on Sunday. 😉

Your posts are so peaceful and calming. Tonight the wind is almost unsettling, trying to round off the corners of the house. I hope you have a lovely week ahead.

What a wonderful dinner to share with your loved ones Michele. Precious memories for sure. I love the image of the little rabbits sheltering under an umbrella. I hope the rain stops soon.
